Minister Shermatov welcomed Ambassador Ulutaş to his new post, extending his congratulations and wishes for successful diplomatic engagement.
He then briefed the Ambassador on measures being taken in line with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's 2017 directive to position Uzbekistan as a regional IT hub. Emphasis was placed on efforts to attract foreign companies, expand IT exports, and create high-paying job opportunities for the youth.
The Uzbek side proposed enhancing cooperation with Turkish firms in the sphere of outsourcing services. The Minister noted the increasing proficiency of Uzbekistan’s young population in foreign languages, which presents an opportunity to jointly serve European markets in collaboration with Turkish companies.
Discussions also covered tax incentives available to IT sector businesses, with proposals to leverage the support of the Turkish Embassy to encourage Turkish firms to enter the Uzbek market.
Educational partnerships were also on the agenda. Uzbekistan invited Turkey to explore joint initiatives with the newly established University of Cybersecurity, and to deepen collaboration in areas such as cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.
Ambassador Ulutaş underlined Turkey's commitment to promoting cooperation in the field of digital technology, and emphasized the importance the Turkish government attaches to this sector. He proposed the participation of an Uzbek delegation in Turkey's annual Technofest and raised the possibility of hosting the event in Uzbekistan in the future to strengthen institutional and business ties.
The two sides also discussed ways of supporting IT start-ups and facilitating the exchange of experience between the two countries in this field.
