Ministry of Digital Technologies Holds Talks with GSMA Director General on Enhancing Digital Development in Uzbekistan

The meeting focused on key aspects of global digital transformation, including emerging trends in ICT and telecommunications, the deployment of next-generation mobile networks, the development of 5G infrastructure, and the integration of artificial intelligence technologies.
Minister Shermatov outlined the major reforms underway in Uzbekistan aimed at building a robust digital economy, enhancing digital service quality, and strengthening national IT capacity. He stressed the importance of international cooperation—particularly with global organizations like GSMA—in accelerating the development of digital infrastructure.
Vivek Badrinath commended Uzbekistan’s recent progress in digitalization and noted its growing potential to become a regional IT hub. He also identified key areas where GSMA could extend support, such as promoting digital inclusion through mobile connectivity, improving digital literacy, and advancing cybersecurity initiatives.
The two sides agreed to broaden strategic cooperation between GSMA and Uzbekistan through joint projects and initiatives that would facilitate greater international engagement for Uzbek mobile operators and tech startups. Practical steps were also discussed to support bilateral knowledge exchange, launch training programs for digital professionals, and adopt global industry standards.
Held within the framework of the M360 Eurasia 2025 forum, the meeting marked an important step toward deepening international partnerships in the digital sector and positioning Uzbekistan as an emerging player in the global digital ecosystem.
