The Act on amendments and additions to certain legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan has been adopted

On 5 May 2025, the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan ‘On introducing amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan’ was adopted.
This Law introduces amendments and additions to the Administrative Liability Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Tax Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as to the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan ‘On Licensing, Permit and Notification Procedures’, providing:
- establishing liability for illegal drilling of wells for underground water and for failure to comply with regulations on the prevention of dangerous geological processes;
- levying a tax of five times the established rate in case of groundwater extraction without water measuring devices;
- improving the procedure for issuing permits for groundwater drilling activities.
The law is aimed at preventing cases of illegal use of groundwater, creating favourable conditions for business entities engaged in drilling for groundwater, and ensuring the rational use of groundwater resources.
The document was passed by the Legislative Chamber on 4 March 2025 and approved by the Senate on 30 April 2025.
