At a videoconference held on April 9, the Head of state emphasized that thanks to Uzbekistan’s rich history, culture, and unique natural landscapes, the number of tourists could be increased two- to threefold.
One of the promising sites for tourism development is the “Chorvoq Darvozasi” complex in Bostanlyk district. In December last year, the President personally inspected the construction progress, and the project’s first phase has recently been completed. The complex includes 16 apartment buildings, 3 hotels, commercial and service facilities, cafés and restaurants, a bank office, and a parking area. Solar panels will be installed on the rooftops of the buildings.
The following stages of the complex’s development and measures to enhance its tourist appeal were outlined during the presentation. An initiative was also announced to construct a small hydroelectric power station on the Chirchiq River to supply the site with affordable and environmentally friendly electricity.
Another project involves the construction of an oceanarium in Yashnabad district of Tashkent. The new tourist attraction will cover an area of 20 hectares along the Chirchiq River. A commercial and hotel complex is also planned nearby, which is expected to create 1,600 new jobs.
In addition, a residential and business complex is planned in Yakkasaray district. The project will include high-rise apartment buildings, kindergartens, schools, sports and wellness centers, a hotel, and office spaces.
The President emphasized the need to thoroughly consider the legal, financial, and infrastructural aspects of the projects and instructed that a clear action plan be developed. Responsible officials were tasked with precisely defining timelines and quality requirements and ensuring strict oversight of project implementation.
