The discussion focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in advancing digital public administration, fostering open government initiatives, and promoting inclusive partnerships within the framework of global UN digital programs. A key point of the dialogue was the enhancement of citizen engagement in decision-making processes through the use of digital technologies.
Mr. Aquaro praised Uzbekistan’s ongoing progress in improving electronic participation and reaffirmed UN DESA’s commitment to providing technical and expert support, particularly in the areas of digital inclusion and e-participation.
The meeting also outlined plans to organize capacity-building workshops aimed at equipping Uzbekistan’s civil service with the skills needed to manage complex digital transformation processes effectively.
A significant outcome of the meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan and UN DESA, within the framework of the Local Online Services Index (LOSI) initiative. The agreement establishes a collaborative approach for regular assessments of regional digital services, the analysis of local digital platform development, the formulation of targeted recommendations to enhance service quality and accessibility, and Uzbekistan’s integration into the global LOSI assessment framework.
Mr. Aquaro expressed his confidence in Uzbekistan’s potential to emerge as a regional leader in digital governance and reiterated UND ESA’s ongoing support for the country’s ambitious national reform agenda.
