The "Central Kyzylkum" National Nature Park

The «Central Kyzylkum» National Nature Park is located in the territory of the Kyzylkum Desert, one of the largest deserts of the Turan Plain, in the Uchkuduk district of the Navoi region. It borders the state border of Kazakhstan to the northeast. In terms of natural and climatic conditions, the Central Kyzylkum National Nature Park is a geographical zone of Central Asia, consisting of vast sandy dunes, plains, and lowlands. Its total area is 1,200,000 hectares and is divided into a protected zone of 674,205.5 hectares, a recreational zone of 20,000 hectares, and an economic zone covering 505,794.5 hectares.
Natural conditions: The majority of the territory of the Central Kyzylkum National Nature Park consists of sandy plains with an absolute height of up to 200 meters. Most of the plains are alluvial (plains formed as a result of the deposition of permanent water streams, consisting of fragments of various degrees of rounding and sizes of scattered sands), sand mounds (a relief form, a peak extending for a certain distance), as well as dunes and sand dunes. The sand mounds have a more meridional direction and are reinforced by plants. Their relative height is 15-20 meters, and the maximum height sometimes reaches 60-70 meters. Natural lakes exist in the Shanishbay, Nissan, and Kupetsk zones.
Flora: More than 44 species of plants grow in the Central Kyzylkum National Nature Park, including 28 species of medicinal and food plants.
Fauna: The National Nature Park is home to more than 17 species of mammals (including: sand cat (Felis margarita), goitered gazelle (Gazella subgutturosa), wolf (Canis lupus), Turkmen caracal (Caracal caracal michaelis), corsac fox (Vulpes corsac), Tolai hare (Lepus tolai), long-eared hedgehog (Hemiechinus auritus), Heptner's jerboa (Salpingotus heptneri), wild boar (Sus scrofa), steppe polecat (Mustela eversmanii), long-tailed hedgehog (Paraechinus hymelas), saiga antelope (Saiga tatarica), Severtzov's jerboa (Allactaga severtzovi), and red fox (Vulpes vulpes)).
Ecotourism objects: 20,000 hectares of the nature park's area have been allocated for the development of ecotourism. There are natural lakes in the Nissan area. The recreation zone in the Okbuket area consists of barren plains and sand dunes.
In the Uchkuduk district, 150 km from the Central Kyzylkum National Nature Park, there are hotels and guesthouses.
The distance from the Central Kyzylkum National Nature Park to the center of the Navoi region is 440-450 km.
