The Zaamin National Natural Park is located on the northern slope of the Turkestan Range within the Zaamin and Bakhmal districts of the Jizzakh region. It covers an area of 23,429.2 hectares, with elevations ranging from 1000 meters to 4033 meters above sea level. The highest point is the summit of Shaukartog of the Turkestan Range. The southwest part of the national park borders the villages of Muzbulok and Zartepa in the Bakhmal district, while its southeast boundary adjoins with Tajikistan.
The territory of the Zaamin National Natural Park boasts a unique geographical feature. All streams located on the park's border flow into the watershed of the Zaminsuv River. This river basin is fed by tributaries such as Obikol, Kashkasuv, Ettikechu, Oriklisoy, Sharillok, Osmanlisoy, Aktash, and Kolsay, all originating from the melting snow in the mountains of the Turkestan Range.
Natural conditions: The area lies within a continental, subtropical climate zone. The mountainous ecosystem of the region holds significant aesthetic, cultural, and paleontological value, encompassing numerous rare and endangered species of flora and fauna.
Flora: The Zaamin National Natural Park is extremely rich in various medicinal plants. More than 1216 species of plants grow wild in the area, with the medicinal properties of over 107 species identified.
Fauna: The park hosts over 282 invertebrate animals, over 30 mammal species, over 102 bird species, over 14 reptile species, 2 amphibian species, and 1 fish species. Three mammal species and twelve bird species are listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Ecotourism sites: "Boboyongok," "Uriklisoy," "Sharshara," "Sherbulak," "Thousand-Year-Old Spruce," "Zamok Mik," Ettikechuvsay, and others. Additionally, a 456-hectare land plot within the park has been allocated for ecotourism development by the "Suffa 2400" tourism directorate.
Numerous hotels and guesthouses have been built within the park and in nearby villages. The Zaamin Sanatorium is located within the park, along with many other health establishments run by various organizations.
Several settlements are situated adjacent to the national park, with the largest being the villages of Ettikechuvsay, Urikli, and Togterak. The distance from the national park to the centers of the Zaamin and Bakhmal districts is 50 km. It's 70 km to the Dashtabad railway station, 110 km to the city of Jizzakh, and 310 km to Samarkand.
