The "Khorezm" National Nature Park

The "Khorezm" National Nature Park is located in the northwest of Uzbekistan, in the lower part of the Amu Darya, at approximately 60-61 degrees east longitude and 40-41 degrees north latitude. The territory of the Khorezm region lies in the northern part of the Turan Plain, occupying a portion of the left bank of the ancient Amu Darya delta and a small part of the Kyzylkum Desert on the right bank.
The total area of the Khorezm National Nature Park is 21,687.5 hectares, with the recreational zone covering 9,181 hectares.
Natural conditions: The Khorezm National Nature Park is situated in a desert-arid zone characterized by a sharply changing (continental) climate. Summer temperatures can reach up to +43 to +54 degrees Celsius, while in winter, they drop to -16 to -28 degrees Celsius. Annual precipitation ranges from 120 to 140 mm.
Flora: The territory is inhabited by saxaul and other desert plants. More than 13 species of plants have been registered in the natural park.
Fauna: The fauna of the reserve is diverse. Along the riverbanks, various mammals can be found, including wild boar, wild cat, badger, lynx, and jackal. Additionally, birds such as pheasants, woodpeckers, kingfishers, herons, and various reptiles inhabit the area. Among vertebrates, there are tolai hare, fox, sand cat, jackal, various rodents, and others. Notable species in the Khorezm region include the Aral hedgehog, Amudarya shrew, Turkmen longhorn beetle, Aral longhorn beetle, Turkmenian loach, Aral gudgeon, shrike, small and mute swans, Turkmen white and black storks, all species of cranes, marble teal, white duck, small white-fronted goose, water rail, and others. The Bukhara deer and caracal are listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Ecotourism objects: Visitors may be interested in the artificial nursery of the national park. Specialized excursions in botany, ornithology, ichthyology, entomology, and other fields can be organized within the national park.
There are no hotels near the reserve.
