The eagle owl is the largest member of the owl family. The weight of an adult ranges from 2.1 to 3.2 kilograms. These predators prefer mountainous habitats and primarily feed on rodents and small birds. However, in some cases, they may attack larger animals. Eagle owls are predominantly nocturnal and are known for their sharp vision and acute hearing.
For reference: The Lower Amudarya State Biosphere Reserve was established in August 2011 and is located in the Beruniy and Amudarya districts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
According to researchers, the reserve is home to 38 species of mammals, 246 species of birds, 29 species of reptiles, 2 species of amphibians, and 43 species of fish. Of these, 38 species are listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and 18 species are included in the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List as rare and endangered.
